Myrna is back because we had more to say about the worldwide obsession with hair. Turns out there is never enough time to exhaust the topic because in addition to everything else about hair, there is the entertainment world in which hair takes, yes, starring roles. You remember the rock opera Hair, one of the all-time greats with hair as the battle ground and poor Claude Hooper Bukowski doing his best to fit in with the crowd. We have “Good Hair” a serious look as how Black women define it. And, lest the horror genre feel slighted we now have “Bad Hair” in which a mop of malevolent hair is actually a main character. Like I said, no end to it.
Myrna, one-time London resident, did her homework to bring you up to date about those powdered wigs and how they came about, and she shares some personal stories (with photos!) about going from style to style as the years marched along.
